Laura McCallum graduated in 2005 from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor in Flute
performance and a minor in musicology. Here she studied with Michel Debost and was a founding member of
the Sun Trio and the Camel Quartet as well as being the principal and assistant principal flute of the
Oberlin Chamber Orchestra. Last summer, Laura participated in the summer music festival Oberlin in Italy
where she performed in the opera orchestra and gave chamber recitals. While at this festival, Laura
received a Diploma of Italian Language and Culture. Laura has participated in masterclasses in Australia,
Canada, and the United State for musicians such as William Bennett, Stephen Preston, Patrick Gallois,
Thomas Pinschoff, Alexa Still, Donald Peck, and Michel Debost. Laura has been the recipient of many awards
including the Silver Medal from the Trinity College of London, AmusA from the Australian Music Examinations
Board, as well as First Place and Highest Honors in the Tropicarnival Music Eistedfodd.
